It’s so easy to hurt others when you can’t feel pain….
Hall & Oates, music artists
The first concert I ever attended… with my sister while we were in college… it was just so much awesomeness!
This line in their song “Rich Girl” has always snagged my attention. It’s so easy to hurt others when you can’t feel pain.
Hurt people hurt people.
Has there ever been a truer Truth?
Hurt people hurt people. And it is just so human to REACT…
You hurt me? I’ll hurt you right back!
You hurt me? I’ll show you!
You hurt me? I’ll hurt myself!
You hurt me? What’s wrong with me?
What if there was a better way? Because hurting hurting people isn’t lifting the vibe of anyone anywhere anytime.
What if we tried this? When someone hurts you, ask yourself —
Is there any truth to what they’re saying?
If there is, thank them (even silently) for showing you a much-needed truth… and get to work on doing what needs to be done to heal.
If there is not, thank them (even silently) for showing you that your heart is in mighty fine shape – and forgive them; do not allow offense to settle its roots within you.
Where are they so hurt that they must ooze their hurt out onto me?
Rather than take their behavior personally – because more often than not, it is not personal – you take a deep breath, and remember that you are powerful. And powerful people do not abuse others. Abusing obviously embittered, hurting, powerless souls is just plain wrong. And just plain powerless.
Hey, you are probably not the only one at the other end of their abusive, powerless, hurtful behavior. If anyone is in need of a good juju tossed their way, it’s them!
Is this easy?
Not at first.
Is this impossible?
Not at all!
Will it become your action, your nature?
Absolutely, with practice.
What the world needs now is love, sweet love…. Ah, but that’s another song altogether…
Energiegal here…. Love works. LIFT the vibe of our world.
