I’ve recently been finding myself coming out of the mentality of “more is better” when it comes to writing down things on my list of to-do’s… and allowing myself time, time, time and space, space, space… to BE. To breathe. To journal. To ponder. To do nothing but sit under a tree, gaze up at the clouds, and listen to the breeze.

Might I say, it’s been weird… but good. 🙂

When tragedy hits our lives and turns everything upside down, we feel betrayed, disappointed, unsafe, afraid. Healing IS possible.

Today’s Daily Word (YouTube link here) concerns the heavy topic of current events: shootings in New York and Texas. As a western New Yorker, born and raised, I can feel the energies of despair and fear. They are palpable. It’s like everyone is walking around in a daze, wondering what the heck just happened.

It’s scary. And part of me wants to just crawl under the covers and come out when this nightmare is over.

That, however, is not very helpful. To me. To you. To us.

And so, we unpack how to stay, how to feel our feelings of betrayal and disappointment and anger, how to process the fear, and how to emerge healthier, whole, sovereign, and in our power.

Yes, it’s possible to trek through these experiences, tragic as they are, remembering Love and Freedom and Hope.

KINDNESS

I am kind because kindness is who I am, not something I try to do.

Today’s Daily Word (YouTube link here) is a doozie. I’m not sure there’s anything that threatens the ego more than kindness. Kindness says, “I am kind because kindness is who I am… not because someone deserves it, has earned it, or because it’s the right thing to do… I am kind because who I am is Kindness-In-Skin.”

It sounds good, doesn’t it, to do acts of kindness… but if those actions are rooted in a “I’ll be the bigger person here” or “this is the right thing to do,” then they will not last. Only Love lasts.

Yes. Only Love lasts.

And here’s the real truth, like it or not: “walk long enough and we all trade places.” (Mark Nepo) We are ALL in need of kindness, mercy, grace, consideration. Love. All of us.

So, in a world where you can be anything… be kind.
