The Destiny card reminds me that “what-goes-around-comes-around”, that karma balances itself… this isn’t a ‘bad’ thing or a ‘good’ thing. It’s the way that ENERGIES work.

Today’s tarot card (YouTube reading) is DESTINY. We may or may not actually live multiple lives – I think I have been “in skin” lots and lots of time before – and I believe that we end one leg of the journey, one lifetime, with certain energies that require balancing in the next lifetime.

This isn’t a punishment! This is a balancing. With yesterday’s TOWER card toppling certain mindsets or relationships or desires, today we receive the opportunity to allow the energies to recalibrate, to resync.

What we do today does create a ripple effect on into eternity. How will you treat yourself and others today? Not because of the threat of hell for bad behavior or heaven for good behavior, but because energies balance themselves throughout our lifetimes.

What if you choose to bring heaven into your earthly experience today? Hug a tree, forgive a parent, be kind to a stranger, laugh with the neighbor, tip the waitress extra.

What is it that you are thinking that has shown itself to no longer benefit you? What kind of thought process must be re-narrated? With mercury in retrograde, there’s plenty of re-thinking, re-newing, re-charging, -re-calibrating energies abounding!

Day 40

Today, Baby Sister and I decided to take a bike ride into town and do a bit of shopping. First, lunch. It was delicious: fresh fish on grilled sweet potatoes with a side salad. Heavenly.

Until the phone call… “Did you take a couple of bikes from outside your room?” our landlord queried. (Why, yes. Yes, we did.)

Come to find out, we’re bike robbers. Thieves, I tell you! 😛

We had taken the wrong pair of bikes, inadvertently snagging our neighbor’s bicycles. Oops! Upon noticing their missing bikes, they called the landlord and, well, everyone added one and one and came up with Two-Girls-Who-Are-Clueless.

And Ever-So-Apologetic.

We rode the bikes home after lunch, pre-shopping, to find our neighbors just as giggly about the incident as we found ourselves. It was truly a mistake and we apologized, found the correct bikes, and returned to town to shop.

The landlord was so understanding.

The bike owners were truly kind and gracious.

We laughed about our goofiness and chalked the whole thing up to “good times.”

There was a time in my life when I would have been soooo embarrassed and pretty tough on myself on the inside. “How could you have been so stupid?” and “You dumby!” and “How hard can it be to find the right bikes, ya bozo!” The whole rest of the day may have been ruined, my countenance wrecked by shame and humiliation.

Luckily – actually, no luck involved as it’s been purposeful shadow-work and journaling and soul-searching and sitting with uncomfortable feelings and memories and unlearning thoughts and relearning other ways of thinking – well, anyway, I’m in a safe space now to be able to find the humor and embrace myself and Sister and have a damn good laugh about it.

On day 40, among the many things I’ve learned throughout this Sabbatical, it’s that holding myself gently, kindly, and with patience is the only way to heal. Being curious, compassionate, and courageous are three underpinnings to laying a foundation of Empowered Living.

Be curious – what am I feeling?
Be compassionate – it’s okay and I’m okay as I feel.
Be courageous – once I’ve felt it all, I allow it to dissolve and open wide my heart to Love.

It is these three actions – curiosity, compassion, and courageousness – that have created for me a healing space. By employing these in my personal and professional practice, I have a better understanding and new perspective on the WHYs, HOWs, and WHATs of healing childhood trauma as well as other energetic blockages. Very empowering indeed.

Tonight, in celebration, Sister and I are going to enjoy “Sound Bathing” and I’m darn excited! What will the next 40 days bring me? I am open to receive, and amen.

Day 39

Sometimes I wish that I could go back in time, and reassure that little girl that she makes it. That she survives. And that she will spend a beautiful week celebrating Life and Love and Living with Baby Sister… and everything turns out okay for both of them.

We’ve just arrived at Anna Maria Island in Florida – it’s stunning! – and we both promptly upacked and set about doing any paperwork and obligatory office work… work before play… then we got out our lists and planned our next two days. We don’t want to miss a thing! We’ve got ourselves scheduled and ready to hit the beach, confident in our itinerary.

We’re both looking forward to beach time, wine and cheese later while playing cards, and strolling into town to do some shopping. Enjoying the same sharp humor, all puns and innuendos, movie quotes and book references, there’ll be plenty of giggles.

Tomorrow morning, I’ll get up early to run a few miles while Sister sleeps in. I’ll drink my coffee bold and hot, she’ll sip hers light and icy. I’ll want a big lunch; she’ll look forward to dinner.

Wednesday we will return to our physically separated lives, as she lives out west and I make my home in upstate NY. She and her Hubs will continue to raise Young Son and Three Awesome Kids and sell real estate; Husband and I will check in with our Five Beautiful Souls and I’ll continue to blog, counsel, and create videos.

We’ll text daily and reminisce and be grateful for the laughs and recall the sunsets and sand between our toes. Remembering conversations and card games, introspective ponderings and shared drinks, we’ll never be far from each others’ thoughts.

The waves of the ocean remind me that life ebbs and flows, the waters pull into the shore and pull back out again. Continuously. Reliably. Life goes on and on and on…

It’s true that she and I had a rough start in life, childhood traumas buried deep into our psyches and physiologies so young… and there were days when I thought I’d never make it through…

Today, I am reminded – oh, thank you, God – that we’ve endured. We’re not “there” anymore, even when our bodies occasionally trigger. We are safe. We are “here.” We are healing. We have earned this brilliant week together, and we will ride this wave with gratitude and a giant exhale.

We. Made. It. ❤

I know that I am blessed to know her, to have her in my life, and to be spending this week with her. And the little girl in me thinks so too. 🙂

It’s a wonderful life indeed. ❤

Day 38

When one of us is experiencing victory, we can all partake of this victory. There’s no need to be jealous or feel left out. We are One.

One of my friends, Jill, is now a published author. She has been working diligently both on the book and on her “shadow work.” Upbeat, raw, honest, hilarious, insightful, she’s an absolute delight to be around and I couldn’t be more thrilled for her! She’s deserving. She’s worthy. A shining example of believing in a dream and doing the work to manifest it. I’m so proud of her!

There was a time in my life when I would not have felt this genuinely joyful. I would have been happy for her, yes, but I would have felt left-out. Unseen by the Universe. Passed by, overlooked by the Source of Love. Abandoned by God. “What about MY dreams?” I would have journaled: poor, pitiful me. I would have felt like the victim. Voiceless. Powerless. 😦

Thank God, I’ve taken some good long looks in the mirror; I’ve spent time in honest soul searching, hours of journaling, and allowed healing into my heart-mind-body. I’ve “done the work” of healing the Inner Child, of listening, holding space, bringing compassion to myself, and being courageous to own my life. 🙂

Vibration shifted, I can now see through the smog and fog and blur and shit of what-about-me-when’s-my-turn thinking and be the Encourager that God created me to be. I looooooove to cheer!

God’s Not Mad

I’ve had a number of clients in this past week who have said, “yep, it’s God punishing me. Maybe He’s mad at me or something…”

I understand this thought process, though I don’t agree with it. I don’t believe that there is a Power “out there” that is mad or happy or sad or pissed off at us, doling out favors and gifts or punishments and hell.

And yay for that! 🙂

We are energies. Our reality manifests according to these energies. If you want to change your reality, change your energies.

How?
By changing your mind. Change your thought patterns.
Having difficulty changing thought patterns? Then allow your heart to come back on-line, experience kindness and compassion, and breathe again.
Having difficulty allowing yourself to trust life enough to open up your heart? Breathe. Breathe to embody, to return to your body, to allow your being to plug back in.

It’s a process which we most often do with the guidance of another. Empathic witnessing is helpful, and authenticity and vulnerability are vital. It’s not HARD, it’s just that you’ve never healed this way before so you don’t know what you’re doing and what to expect. Of course you’re apprehensive! But don’t let that stop you from BECOMING, from plugging back in, being tuned in to the frequency of abundance and peace, and allowing yourself to LIVE. To finally LIVE.

“God” is within us and is us as well as all around us in others and nature. WE ARE LOVED because we’re lovable. We’re worthy! We’re holy! We’re divine! We’re here to experience LIVING, not to be tested and deemed worthy or unworthy of being LOVED.

These are big and new paradigms – belief patterns and thought systems – for so many of us to wrap ourselves around. Let’s be patient with each other as we unlearn and relearn ways of processing information.

And remember, if you’re scared of this work, it’s because you’ve never healed this way before. It’s perfectly understandable to be apprehensive of a new way of thinking, being, living. Check out this short meditation that I created to help you with this journey.
